It's time for my September Pure Flix recommendation! As an ambassador for this Christian streaming service, I can tell you that it's the number one place to find quality Christian television shows and movies that you'll enjoy watching with your whole family. This means both adult series' to children's programming, including the super popular kids show, Veggie Tales.

This time around, I was able to preview "Legacy Peak", a Pure Flix original film with an all-star cast. Jason is a man with a plan – all the plans in fact. But when a surprise trip with his girlfriend's children crashes and burns, they’ll all discover if he’s father material or not. This film is going to touch the hearts of blended families and appeal to those who like adventure movies, too.

Synopsis
Jason is on an adventure to win the hearts of Noelle’s kids before they marry. The plan for them to fly to her parent’s cabin days before she wraps up work quickly falls apart and the adventure turns to a struggle to survive before this new family can start a life together.

My Thoughts
“Legacy Peak” is a family adventure about how a little faith can help people triumph over insurmountable odds. The development of the relationship between Jason and the kids is so relatable and true to life. I was especially impressed with the acting skills of the kids! All in all, this movie brought on some deep reflection about the trials of blended families and how important it is to support those you know.

Themes to Expect

  • Plans go awry, but dependence on God when things go “wrong” brings us back on track

  • Control over all aspects of your life, letting go and letting God take control

  • Taking responsibility for others but finding balance to care for yourself

  • Definition of a family; the role of a father vs. role of a mother

  • God is our Father, even if there is no one else (foster care, parent death)

  • Loving people for who they are and not what they’ve done

  • Learning to trust others

Bible Verses

    • And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” – Matthew 3:17 (NIV)

    • For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

    • I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. – John 14:18 (NIV)

    • I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. - Matthew 10:16 (NIV)
