2020 Holiday Gift Guide: Scholastic Board Books for Little Ones

 

With all of the stresses that 2020 has brought with it, we are so ready to welcome the joy of the holiday season and have already begun thinking about special gift ideas for loved ones! As a family of readers, books are always at the top of our gift list for the kids. It's never too early to start fostering the love of reading, and baby board books are the perfect way to introduce reading to infants while creating important bonding moments. 

Scholastic Books has been one of our go-to stores to find quality book selections for over a decade. Their books are always affordable and they take special care to offer quality stories. This year, we’ve found three board books we plan to gift to the infants and toddlers in our family. Check them out below...

I'm Not Tired! A Bedtime Routine Book - For anyone struggling with bedtime routines or parents who just want to prepare their children before the struggle begins, this book is direct and fun to read together. The story is simple and the art is engaging, as each page tells about a little boy moving through the nightly routines and stating 'I'm not tired!'. But will he be sleepy by the end? Zzzz. . . Scholastic recommends this book for ages 0-3 years old.

I Will Love You Forever - This is one of our absolute favorite books to gift parents of little ones! Written by Caroline Jayne Church, this sweet story uses rhyming text (great for pre-literacy skills) to reinforce the message that a parent's love is never ending and that your child will always be cherished. We especially love that it's a padded storybook with board book pages, so it will be extra durable for baby to explore over and over again. Scholastic recommends this book for ages 3-5 years old, but we love it for infants and toddlers, too!

I Love You Through and Through (Board Book and Plush) - Caroline Jayne Church is one of our favorite children's authors because she creates such sweet children's books with messages of unconditional love. This book and plush set makes a great holiday gift for little ones because it comes with a soft, snuggly bear for readers to hug and hold. It's never to early to read to your child and sending them a message of love and security will support their development as they grow. Scholastic recommends this book set for ages 3-5. We also like it for infants and toddlers, but you'll need to monitor use of the book, as the board pages are just a bit thinner than than our two book recommendations above.
