As the weeks continue to pass at home, life has certainly slowed. Are you finding it more difficult to keep kids entertained? You aren't alone! Here are three easy tips to make it through these days...
1. Create a Visual Schedule
Routine and predictability are key. Routines help children feel safe, calm, and more self-sufficient. With a daily structure in place, expectations are clear and the constant need to 'entertain' your child lessens dramatically. Here's one of our favorite print-ready visual schedules for the home!
2. Provide Choices!
Kids want to feel like they have a say in the day as well. Allowing them to help choose meals, outside activities, walking routes, and more can help children feel a sense of control and reduce anxiety during this time.
Add screen-free family playtime to your schedule. Playtime promotes language development, social skills, and family bonding! For school-age kids, board games are loads of fun and an easy way to practice academic and social skills. This week we're introducing two fantastic classics: Husker Du™ and BIG BOGGLE®. Hopefully, these games bring back some favorite childhood memories of your own. If you aren't familiar with them, check them out below and be sure to enter our giveaway!
