Create Back-to-School Book Traditions #RichardScarry #AlphabetBooks #kidsbooks

Back-to-School sales have begun and it's already time to start loading up on supplies. But Back-to-School shopping doesn't have to focus only on supplies! In addition to picking out the basics, our family has had a long tradition of book gifting for the first day of school. It's a great way to get kids excited about the school year and promote reading while building special memories. This year, we have two little ones starting pre-K and Kindergarten in our family. One of my favorite authors at that age was Richard Scarry, so I wanted try to foster that same love with two fantastic Richard Scarry books.

Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks from A to Z
This book is great for all kids, but the boys in our family have been particularly drawn to it. Although board books are great for toddlers, I'm also a fan of them for Pre-K kids. Nowadays, there's a wide selection of classics and modern stories to choose from in board book form. The Cars and Trucks A to Z book is a car-and-truck-filled alphabet extravaganza that starts with an ambulance and ends with a zipper car. We love that it is shaped like Lowly Worm's apple mobile!

Richard Scarry Mr. Paint Pig’s ABC’s
This hardbound book is a lot of fun to read together. Kids love opening the flaps to see what funny illustrations they'll find to continue the story. It makes for a lot of laughs and conversation. We love that it goes through the alphabet in such a unique and interesting way, too.

We hope we've inspired you to start your own book gifting traditions with your family! It's been a strong bonding activity for us and a wonderful way to encourage kids to read.

Where to Buy
These and other Richard Scarry books can be purchased for delivery directly to your door via Amazon or you can find them at local retailers like Barnes and Noble.
