Customize Your Home with Allure Decorative Sheeting #homemakeover #DIYrenovations #Freedom #Lowes

Summer is a great time to update an outdoor living space. We've been wanting to create some privacy for our balcony and patio and add some style to our backyard area. When we first starting looking into major renovations we were really surprised at the price quotes. They were far above our budget, so we started poking around online to see what we could do to give our outdoor space a facelift in an affordable way. One really unique idea I came across was the Allure Decorative Sheeting. If you haven't seen them before, you're going to want to check them out! They are essentially a modernized spin on lattice that you can use in an endless amount of ways. You can hang them from your porch ceiling for privacy, add to the siding of your home for a customized look, use in the garden for a trendy outdoor design or even incorporate them indoors to update up your home decor.

We used two of these pieces to hide some unsightly pipe work!

We chose the Freedom Fretwork White Vinyl Lattice design for two reasons. First, we wanted to incorporate the lattice into our wrap-around gardens in our back and side yards.  We worked on the gardens for most of the afternoon and couldn't be happier the way they turned out. It really looks upscale and we've received tons of compliments!

We also love the look of the panels hanging on the balcony in the Freedom design photos, so we plan to give that a try next. I like the idea of the hanging lattice matching the gardens. It will likely require about ten lattice pieces all in all. to complete the balcony. At around $30 a piece, it's a super affordable DIY project. Check out some of the cool design ideas from Freedom below!

The Freedom Fretwork White Vinyl Lattice
We chose the this lattice design for it's modern, symmetrical look. The busy detail of the lattice provides a good amount of privacy on our porch and adds a bit of beauty to our garden. We selected white lattice, but it also comes in black, clay and saddle. If you want to customize it to match something in particular, the lattice is made of a paintable material. (Not compatible with Freedom cap or divider moldings) Common: 24-in x 4-ft; Actual: 0.3-in x 23.875-in x 3.989-ft

If you plan to hang these, you will need (4) #8 1½" long stainless steel screws and screw covers (sold separately in matching colors). In each corner there is an indentation showing the recommended fastener location to pre-drill a hole with a 1/4" drill bit. This will make it easier to install when you're ready to fasten the screws. For full installation instructions, check out the Lowes Guides and Documents tab at the bottom of the product page here.

Each corner of the lattice has an indent to pre-drill for screws.

Overall, we found the decorative sheeting easy to install and really versatile. Our backyard has received so many compliments and we're proud to have achieved such a gorgeous look at a really affordable price. It's nice to have found something unique enough that our home stands out from others in the neighborhood. We're very happy with this decision!
