Recipe: Homemade Sweet and Spicy Pecans #holidaynuts #sweetandspicypecans #holidaymenu

This year we attempted my mother-in-law’s sweet and spicy pecan recipe that we typically devour in less than a day. It was actually just as easy as she said it would be and the house smelled absolutely amazing while the pecans baked. Personally, we should have gone ahead and doubled the recipe because they didn’t last long at all in our home! Check out the recipe below...

Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp cayenne
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 cups pecan halves

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Spray 2 large cookie sheets with cooking spray.
  3. Mix the sugar, salt, chili powder, cinnamon and cayenne together in a small bowl.
  4. Beat egg white lightly with a fork in a larger bowl.
  5. Toss the pecans in the mixture until they are thoroughly coated.
  6. Place pecans one by one on the baking sheet, separating them as best as possible.
  7. Bake 30-35 minutes. Remove from oven.
  8. Use a spatula to break apart any pecans that may be stuck together.
  9. Allow pecans to cool completely.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
To store, place in an air tight container. Pecans typically stay fresh for one week.
