We recently met friends for an afternoon of relaxation, and our wanderings dropped us off at Bold Rock Hard Brewery (45 minutes SW of Charlottesville, VA). Impressive place! There is a view of the bottling operation, some reading tidbits of history and lore of the cider world, and of course, the beverages themselves.
Each couple bought the sampler of four ciders: two were noticeably superior. Their standard, Virginia Draft, was nice and smooth. Their champagne substitute was also nice, Vat No. 1. We all agreed that the other two were a bit bitter to the palette, but not bad. We all prefer the blend of sweet and tart in a good hard cider, so the Virginia Draft and Vat No. 1 were more our style.
The decor was awesome. Very farm friendly feeling. Big hearth with a fire, gorgeous wood roof, outdoor deck and seating with games, lots of space and a great view. It would be an amazing place to hold an event.
This looks like a fun place for a date night. I'd love to visit with my husband.
ReplyDeleteI'd take my friends here when they visit from out of town. It's something a bit different and would be more memorable and fun.
ReplyDeleteWe are always up for something new. Sounds like a good time
ReplyDeleteIt's really pretty there, too. Kinda in the country, so it made for a nice drive. :)
