This summer has been filled with major thunderstorms just about every day and it's making our family stir-crazy! We've got tons of awesome outdoor toys, but our indoor fun time has gotten a bit lackluster. In my search for new inside activities, I came across the Mukikim Mini Flyer Infrared Flying Saucers and knew it would bring the excitement. The people of Mukikim were generous enough to let us give it a try and we had a blast with it!
About the Mini Flyer
These flying saucers come in seven different styles. We chose the Smiley Face Mini Flyer to bring some smiles to our rainy days. It comes with a small remote to start and stop the propellers and a USB charger for easy recharging. Expect about 10-15 minutes of charging time and 8-10 minutes of flight time. We love that it doesn't require batteries and it's not remote controlled, so it's a totally unique kind of toy. Instead, the flyer uses infrared technology to elevate when it senses a solid surface underneath it.
How It Works
To get started, push the 'On/Off' button on the bottom of the flyer. A red light will appear when it is on. Be sure to hold the mini flyer away from your body. Then push the small remote to start the propellers. The mini flyer will begin flight. It's that simple! To keep it up in the air, place your hand under the flyer. The infrared technology will sense you there and the flyer will elevate again.
**Warning: Be sure to hold the flyer away from your body when you are ready to use it. The soft plastic propellers spin at a high speed. (They stop when they touch a hard surface though.) The age recommendation is for 8+, so we have a rule that an adult starts the flyer in our home, but you know your kids best, so do what feels safest for you.
Our Thoughts
Be prepared to run around the room with this toy! It's a great way to get some energy out while your family is cooped up indoors. Now that we're getting a handle on how to control it, we've started creating some games to try and pass it around the room to each other. It's a lot of fun and a great bonding activity for our family. For a toy that costs less than twenty dollars, we certainly get our money's worth in entertainment value. We'd recommended it as a unique toy for children's birthday parties, too!
