My husband and I have a relatively new-found love of gardening. We started small last year with indoor house plants and felt that if we could keep them alive, we would be ready to move on to bigger and better things. When spring arrived, it was the perfect opportunity for us to try our hand at a basic vegetable garden and flower beds. So far, we're doing an awesome job, if I do say so myself! Since starting our new hobby, I've found a few must-haves to get down in the soil. One of which is a pair of true gardening boots. I used to slip on a pair of loafers or tennis shoes, which always left me battling chunks of dirt and mud in and on my shoes and irritated skin around my ankles and lower legs from lack of protection.
In searching out real garden boots, I came across the Sloggers women's rain and garden boots and was really happy to find that they offer a style with a taller ankle. It gives me the right amount of protection, but isn't as tall as the traditional rain boot, so they're really easy to bend and move in. I chose the Flower Power Rain and Garden Boots, but Sloggers has tons of other patterns and a variety of styles to choose from as well. The clog selection is pretty amazing. It's nice that these boots have a dual purpose and can be worn as rain boots, too!
The Fit
The Flower Power Rain and Garden Boots are 10.5" tall and 15.5" circumference. I like to tuck my pants into them, so the wide opening is an added bonus for me. If you need to, you can use the half sizer insole for a more customizable fit. The upper part of the boot is soft and flexible inside. Overall, I find them really comfortable, even after working in them for most of the day.
The Make
These boots are waterproof, made from 100% recyclable, medical grade material that is easy to hose off to clean. It's the type of material that will last for years. It's worth mentioning that they don't have that awful plastic smell that many other rain boots do!
Earth-Friendly
Another exceptionally cool thing I found is that Slogger's recycles your old boots. When you are finished with your boots, you can actually send them back to Sloggers and they will turn them back into a new pair!
