Review: SunRype Healthy Grab-n-Go Snacks #holidaytravel #schoollunch #glutenfree #vegan #kosher #peanutfree

Over the past two years, we've really put a lot of effort into changing our eating habits and stocking our cabinets with healthier snacks and meals. Friends told us it would get easier and after awhile, we would be in and out of the grocery store without laboriously reading labels and trying to sort between 'good' and 'bad'. They were totally right. However, I have to attribute some of this to the improvements many manufacturers have placed on labels. Yes, there's a certain amount of trust that goes along with that, but when we can look at a label and quickly recognize the ingredients as familiar fruits and veggies, it's pretty helpful in our decision-making. This week we had the opportunity to try SunRype snacks. After noticing that they are labeled as 100% fruit snacks, with the some varieties noting veggies as well, we were excited to give them a go. We tried their Fruit to Go snacks, FruitSource Bars and Energy Bars and genuinely liked them all.

Fruit to Go Snacks
Think fruit leather with fun ridges. These are, in a word, delicious. They are perfect to throw in our bag for road trips and soccer games and they make a great snack to toss in a lunchbox. Honestly though, we ate them as snacks at home A LOT. They feel like a much better choice than grabbing the box of cheese crackers or chips (which we try to limit in our house as it is.) They are pretty sweet and we find that one is typically enough to satisfy any food cravings for quite a while. The Fruit to Go snacks were very popular with the kids, so much so that we had to put a limit on it!

Flavors:

  • Apple Wildberry
  • Apple Strawberry Watermelon
  • Apple Strawberry
  • Apple Raspberry (the most popular in our house)

We like that some of these bars are made with both fruits and veggies. We really haven't come across a snack bar like that and it's a welcome addition. All of the bars are flavorful, with the Apple Strawberry being the clear favorite in our house. We like them as snacks, but also as part of a grab-n-go breakfast on days where we need to get out the door. I was skeptical of the Mango since that flavor can be really hit or miss, but it works well in both bars and isn't overpowering.

Flavors:

  • Apple Mango Strawberry
  • Apple Mango Mangosteen
  • Apple Blueberry Pomegranate
  • Apple Strawberry

Fruit and Chia and Energy Bars
My husband is a big fan of the Fruit and Chia bars. He likes that they are full of grains, seeds and fruit because he gets the sweetness and healthiness combo in one snack. I think the Fruit and Chia bars are good, but I'm such a coconut fan that the Chocolate Coconut Bar is the clear winner for me. These are perfect to keep in your office desk drawer as a pick-me-up throughout the day.

Allergies and Diet Restrictions
For those with allergies, all of the SunRype products are Gluten-Free, Peanut-Free, Vegan AND Kosher. We have to shop gluten-free when we are hosting for particular family members, so we know how difficult it can be to find food options that fit these requirements and are actually delicious, too.

All in all, we really enjoyed all of the bars that we sampled and like that they fit into our healthier lifestyle goal. If you're interested in trying them, SunRype's has a locator page to help you find a retailer in your own area.
