Review: Urban Accents Flapjack Mixes #breakfast #urbanaccents

This is the time of year that we usually start planning for holiday visits and parties. We love having family and friends visit and love hosting holiday parties even more. For me, waking up with a house full of guests is the adult version of a kid on Christmas morning. I love it! It's an excuse to go overboard on cooking, pull out the back of the cupboard cookware we hardly use and try recipes that are a bit more decadent that usual. This week I was on a hunt to find something special to bring to the breakfast table and I hit the jackpot with Urban Accents Flapjack Mix: Ginger Carrot Cake, Deep Chocolate, Blueberry Lemon Lavender and Potato Cheddar and Chive. I'm the type to insist we do a trial run of anything we're going to serve beforehand, and my husband love when our family cooks together, so it isn't a hard sell. We ripped open all four flapjack/waffle mixes and whipped up four quick batters that took practically no effort at all. (We went the way of waffles since it's easy to freeze the extras for later.) Without exaggeration, the aroma of each mix is so tempting. I can't wait for our guests to wake up to them.

About Urban Accents Flapjack Mix

These mixes are super easy to make--just add milk, eggs, and butter (or oil) to the mix. Each mix is all-natural and one pouch makes 12 flapjacks. You can order them through the website for $8.99 a pouch or click here to find a retailer near you. You can also find them on FB, Twitter and Instagram.

Ginger Carrot Cake Mix This mix has a dessert quality sprinkled with chopped walnuts (my favorite) and shredded coconut. I love the recipe suggestion on the website and plan to give it a try: Make silver dollar size pancakes and serve small stacks of them with a cream cheese glaze and coarsely chopped walnuts as a dessert.

Deep Chocolate Mix - I already know how I'm winning with the kids! Chocolatey pancakes, yes, please. Add some chocolate syrup and whipped cream and they'll be all smiles. When we were making the chocolate waffles we folded them in half into Choco Tacos. Apparently the we were on the same wavelength as Urban Accents, because they posted a similar idea with pancakes: Just make up a batch of mini flapjacks. Fill each with a dollop of whipped topping and your favorite fruit. Fold in half and serve!

Blueberry Lemon Lavender Mix - This mix is by far my favorite! Decadent, Unique, Delicious. The blueberries taste fresh and the subtle balance of lemon and lavender is so well done that they compliment each other perfectly. It definitely tastes like something you'd find at a high-end brunch.

Potato Cheddar and Chive Mix - For all my savory-loving friends out there, you're going to love these. I could eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Part of me just wants to have them cooking in the kitchen all day because the smell is so enticing. Of course, we typically make these as pancakes, but the waffle form is especially nice as a grab-and-go food for kids. I like the idea of making silver dollar size pancakes with a dollop of sour cream to serve as appetizers at a holiday party.

Finding fancy foods to serve our guests makes me even more excited for them to arrive! We've added the mixes to the breakfast plan for our holiday get-togethers and think it will be fun to see which flavors each person likes.

What do you like to do to add something special to the holiday season?
