Tortuga Rum Cakes and Coffee...Giveaway!

If you're a traveler, you may be very familiar with Tortuga gourmet products. They have been available on board gift shops, cruise ships, and specialty food stores for quite some time. Now you can also find them in Dillards department store and even on Amazon.com. We have picked the rum cakes up several times on our way home from the Caribbean because my husband likes them so much.

 We've always tried the original Tortuga Rum Cakes, which is the most popular flavor that they sell. They are sweet and definitely have a rum taste to them, but are not at all over-powering. The cakes are baked in the Caribbean, hand glazed with 5-year-old, oak barrel aged Tortuga Gold Rum, and sprinkled with imported walnut pieces. Delicious! You don't have to worry about freshness because each cake is vacuum sealed and has a shelf life of 12 months or indefinitely if you throw it in the refrigerator or freezer.

We also tried a new flavor, the Tortuga Coconut Rum Cake. Now this is my kind of cake! The fresh shredded coconut brings out the flavor in the rum cakes. Imagine the same description of the original flavor, but with the added dimension of coconut!

The packaging alone made me love this coffee before we even opened it. It come in a burlap sack, and is sealed for freshness inside.The coffee lovers in our family got a treat when we shared the Tortuga 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee with them during the holiday visit. They loved the richness and sweetness of it and I couldn't get enough of the aroma. It definitely was the preferred coffee of choice with our relatives, and we had quite a bit of coffee to choose from! Each 7 ounce bag brews 16-25 cups and costs around $30 a bag. This would make a great gift for coffee lovers.

While cruising the Tortuga website, I noticed that they make chocolates as well! We definitely want to give those a try to see if they are as tasty as the rest of their products have been. As a note, we tried the 4 oz cakes shown in the pictures, but they have other sizes as well.
