Diary of a Beverly Hills Matchmaker

One of my relaxing summer reads this season was the hilariously entertaining book, Diary of a Beverly Hills Matchmaker. It's definitely a different genre than I would normally pick up, but a nice change! The author, Marla Martenson, recounts her days as an L.A. matchmaker for some of the most out-of-touch, wealthy  clients you can imagine. As I found myself laughing at some of the ridiculous demands and desires of some of these clients, I also appreciated her stories of her personal life living in L.A. She touches on how L.A. affects a woman's self-esteem in parallel with her husband thinking she isn't enough of a domesticated woman. The entire book is so far from my type of life experiences, that it made reading it even more interesting to me. I definitely laughed out loud at times and had an awful lot of cringe-worthy moments while reading this! I don't want to give away any of the juicy details that you'll want to read for yourself, but if you are intrigued by matchmaker dating, botox, or the demands of the L.A. life, you'll definitely find this a witty, quick read!
